Back in 1998, Representative Wendell Gilliard created a way to celebrate local community members whose accomplishments embody the values that the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. represented.
Now in its 28th year, the 2026 “Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Picture Awards” will be awarded on Tuesday, Jan. 27. Among this year’s honorees is Star 99.7’s Savannah J!
Weekday mornings, Savannah J helps start your day as part of the Steve Harvey Morning Show on Star 99.7. In addition to her radio talents, Savannah J is also an author, TV host, a partner of the Maude Agency and a board member of The Gullah Geechie Angel Network committee. While certainly not her first honor, in 2012 she was also recognized with a proclamation for her outstanding broadcast career and community outreach by the South Carolina House of Representatives.
