Taste of Black Charleston & Black Expo 2022

On Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12, 2022 the Taste of Black Charleston and Black Expo took back the Charleston Area Convention Center in North Charleston. Star 99.7’s Geno Jones hosted the Taste of Black Charleston on Friday night, which had lines waiting out the door to sample a wide range of cuisine from local chefs in the black community. Chefs were awarded prizes in a range of categories and joined by celebrity chef Carlos Brown. The scene was set by music from Ray Singleton and a wandering violinist.

The next day, the entire team from Star 99.7, 99.3 The Box and Heaven 100.1 made appearances at their booth at the Black Expo where listeners took photos, listened to live music from DJ D-Nyce and others, enjoyed the lounge provided by Dixie Furniture, ate popcorn, signed up to win prizes like a $500 gift card to Diamonds Direct and tickets to Rod Wave and Da Baby, The Isley Brothers and Lowcountry Juneteenth. Appearances from national celebrities like Anthony Anderson, Roi Chip Anthony and Kierra Sheard added to the buzz.
