Hear the Iconic Words of Civil Rights Hero
Martin Luther King
More than 50 years after his death, the influence of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. continues to be strong today. The leader of the civil rights movement and its most visible spokesperson, Dr. King won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. He was the first president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom after his death. Martin Luther King Jr. Day was established as a federal holiday in 1986.
Perhaps more than anything else, Dr. King is remembered today through his words, including the famous “I Have a Dream” speech from the 1963 March on Washington D.C. As part of this year’s MLK Celebration, Star 99.7 is sharing some of the most famous words of the Civil Rights icon.
