For the 14th year, the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce will host its annual “Mount Pleasant Business and Community Expo on Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Omar Shrine Center at Patriot’s Point. Rebecca Imholtz is the organization’s Executive Director and explained why the Chamber was motivated to hold the Expo and how the event has grown over the last decade. She shared the purpose of the expo, discussed how this event assisted both the town, businesses in the local area and residents, while sharing the new elements of this year’s event, including their first ever job expo. Along with a list of sponsors of the Expo, Imholtz provided a timeline for the event and spoke about how the event, and the Chamber as well, is not just an organization for business, but is also a huge positive for residents of Mount Pleasant as well.

GUEST: Tony Deering, CEO

According to the 2025 Incorporated 500 list of America’s fastest growing companies, the company ranked 5th is based in the Lowcountry. R2P Innovations makes bullet proof doors that can be used in government offices, business, and perhaps most importantly, schools. Tony Deering, the CEO of R2P Innovations explained what his company’s name stands for and how we came to create the company. Deering shared exactly how the doors they make work and the testing that’s been done on them and the safety difference the doors make for students, teachers and first-responders. In addition, Deering discussed how the company came to be founded in Ladson and the impact that it has had, to this point, on the Lowcountry economy.
