Charleston County is continuing to expand a composting program that started about 5 years ago. Aly Petruch, a Sustainability Coordinator for Charleston County, explained what composting is, why it is important for the Lowcountry, and how the program works on a countywide basis. She provided information on the county’s composting locations and how individuals can become involved in the program. Meg Thompson, Project Manager, Office of the Mayor of the City of North Charleston discussed the city’s expansion of their composting program and provided detailed information on how residents can begin to compost.
