For the first time in the Lowcountry, Mount Pleasant will host a Tunnel to Towers 5K event. Sarkis Ohannessian, Mount Pleasant Volunteer Race Director provided the details for the Sunday, May 3rd event at the Park West Recreation Complex. Ohannessian shared what Tunnel to Towers is all about, explaining their mission to honor and assist families of first responders which was created out of the 9/11 attacks 25 years ago this year. A first responder himself, Ohannessian was a police officer in California who retired and came to the east coast and is organizing this event, one of about 80 the organization hosts. He shared details on what would be happening at the event, how people can assist by participating or volunteering and what would measure the success of this 5K.
