Ring a Kettle Bell for the Salvation Army This Holiday Season
Back in 1891 in San Francisco, Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee resolved to provide a free Christmas dinner for the destitute and poverty-stricken. To raise the money needed, he placed a pot at the Oakland Ferry Landing with a sign that read, “Keep the Pot Boiling” and a holiday tradition began.
More than 100 years later, the Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign is the organization’s biggest fundraiser. The year, the Charleston Radio Group helped kickoff the campaign on Friday, Nov. 18, the first day for Red Kettles across the Lowcountry.
This holiday season, you can join us and ring a kettle bell. Click here for information on how to volunteer to assist the Salvation Army as an individual, a group, or even to ring a virtual bell.
Every day, the Salvation Army provides assistance to hundreds of our Lowcountry neighbors. Food, emergency shelter, emergency financial assistance, such as providing funds to pay an electric bill or rent, are just some of the ways the Salvation Army helps. These services are provided, not just during the holidays, but throughout the entire year. Your donation will go a long way in making a difference right here where we live.
So, this holiday season, share a smile with a Salvation Army Bell Ringer. And, if you’re able, please make a donation.
