Lowcountry Juneteenth of Charleston, SC will be hosting its first ever outdoor festival during a weeklong celebration called Lowcountry Juneteenth Week, June 14-20, 2021. As the Official Juneteenth Festival of the Lowcountry, the celebration presents the legacy of this African-American experience to ethnically diverse audiences through education and entertainment all week.

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. The celebration is the ONLY holiday that commemorates the abolition of slavery, more specifically the emancipation of enslaved Africans throughout the United States of America.

Lowcountry Juneteenth Week will highlight black owned business with curated events throughout the city with live performances, exhibits, seminars and more. Some highlights of the festival will include an Anita Baker Tribute show presented by Zandrina Dunning of the ZD Experience & Charleston Music Hall, featuring Black Diamond & Friends, Dennis L. King’s theatrical play Illusions featuring Tony Grant from the Tyler Perry play Why Did I get Married, a culinary experience with Celebrity Chef Carlos Brown and the main attraction…..a family day of fun on Saturday June 19th at The Bend all in a breathtaking waterfront venue located in beautiful North Charleston. The family affair will also feature children’s activities, food trucks, vendors, performances, fireworks, and a live concert featuring Tony! Toni! Tone!, Raheem DeVaughn, Lacee, Lebrado, Joe Nice and more.
