Each school year, Star 99.7, the People’s Station, recognizes Lowcountry students to help boost their confidence and reinforces the value of hard work and perseverance. We believe this recognition motivates students to continue striving for success.

If your child has an “A” average and/or perfect attendance (or excused absences) on their report cards, we’d like to recognize them as one of Geno’s Academic All-Stars!

Simply fill out the form below, including:

• Student’s full name
• Name of the school he/she attends
• Grade they are in during the 2025-2026 school year
• Why they should be an Academic All-Star

Then, attach a photo/scanned PNG/JPEG of their 2025-2026 report card.

Each weekday during the school year, Geno highlight’s a daily “Academic All-Stars.”

Each Friday, one of the winners from that week will also receive a four-pack of ticket vouchers to a Charleton RiverDogs game.

Contest Rules:

These are the rules governing the “Academic All-Stars” contest aired on Star 99.7 radio and on the star997.com website, unless otherwise specified. In the following rules, “Star 99.7” means Charleston Media Solutions, which owns Star 99.7 radio:

1. No purchase is necessary to enter any Star 99.7 contest.
2. Parents, grandparents, guardians and relatives are invited to visit star99.7.com Friday, October 24, 2025 through Friday, June 5, 2026 and enter their child, grandchild, niece or nephew to become a Star 99.7 “Academic All-Star.”
3. An individual may nominate up to three (3) different students to be considered as Star 99.7 Academic All-Star.
4. An “Academic All-Star” is a student in kindergarten through 12^th grade at a South Carolina sanctioned school in Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, Colleton or Georgetown counties who has either an A average on his/her report card, or perfect attendance for an individual quarter during the 2025 – 2026 school year.
5. To be eligible to be a Star 99.7 “Academic All-Star,” a parent, grandparent, guardian or relative must complete the Academic All-Star form at star997.com and upload a copy of that child’s report card and/or attendance record.
6. Each weekday at approximately 10AM, one (1) student entered in the contest will be selected in a random drawing of all eligible entries as that day’s “Academic All-Star.”
7. “Academic All-Stars” will not be selected during the holiday break, December 19, 2025 through January 20, 2025, and spring break, April 6, 2026 through April 10, 2026, and on holidays during the 2025 – 2026 school year.
8. Each Friday, beginning Friday, November 14, 2025 and continuing through Friday, March 27, 2026, one (1) of the five (5) Academic All-Stars who were selected that week will be entered in to a random drawing for four (4) South Caroliina Stingrays tickets, each ticket is valued at $32.00.
9. Each Friday, beginning Friday, April 3 2026 and continuing through Friday, June 5, 2026, one (1) of the five (5) Academic All-Stars who were selected that week will be entered in to a random drawing for four (4) Charleston RiverDogs tickets, each ticket is valued at $12.00.
10. The weekly winner will be selected in a random drawing from the five (5) eligible entries at approximately Noon, on designated Fridays during the contesting period.
11. The winner will be notified within 72 hours of being selected. At least three (3) attempts will be made by phone and/or email to contact the winner. If the winner does not respond within 72 hours, another winner will be selected in a random drawing of all remaining eligible entries.
12. The tickets will be emailed to the winner at a valid email address the winner provides.
13. Charleston Media Solutions cannot be held responsible if the game(s) are postponed or cancelled.
14. Winners must adhere to any and all Covid-19 protocols that may be in place at the venue.
15. To be eligible to win any prize on Star 99.7 you must not have won anything on Star 99.7 in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named.
16. Anytime you call the Star 99.7 studios you assume that your call will be broadcast or recorded, and you grant us permission to broadcast the call or record it for later broadcast.
17. As a winner of a Star 99.7 contest your voice, name and/or picture may be used for promotional, broadcast, or internet purposes without any compensation to you.
18. Prizes awarded are not redeemable for cash. No prize is transferable. No substitution for a prize will be made at the request of winner. Star 99.7 reserves the right to substitute a prize of similar value.
19. Star 99.7’s sole responsibility will be to award the prize. Star 99.7 will have no further responsibility in connection with the prize if the prize winner, for any reason, cannot or decides not to use any of the prize.

20. All winners of all contests are responsible for any and all federal, state and/or local taxes on prize awarded. All winners of a prize valued at $600 or more will be required to complete the appropriate tax forms at the Star 99.7 studios prior to claiming prize. All winners will be sent a 1099 MISC federal tax form if in one calendar year the prize value of all prizes won exceeds $600.
21. In the event the winner is subject to or the subject of any order or legal process issued by any governmental agency having jurisdiction over the affairs of the winner (i.e. garnishment, child support order, judgment, lien, and the like), Star 99.7’s delivery of the prize to the official representative of the governmental entity claiming a right to the prize shall be thus deemed as (Star 99.7) awarding the prize to the winner. Star 99.7 shall be entitled to rely in good faith, upon any documents presented by the representative seeking to collect the prize in lieu of the winner. Star 99.7 shall not be liable for any claim by any winner for damages incidental thereto.
22. All Star 99.7 contests are open to all eligible residents 18 or over (unless otherwise specified) living within 75 miles of station transmitter(s) and must not have won anything on Star 99.7 in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named.   Contestants must possess a valid form of identification bearing the picture of the contestant acceptable to Star 99.7 that will be presented to Star 99.7 and accepted before the prize is awarded. Employees of Star 99.7, Charleston Media Solutions, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one-hundred mile radius of the Star 99.7 main studio are not eligible to win any contest. Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is a current legal guardian.      All contest rules are available online at www.star997.com/contests.

23. Winners will be expected to claim prize at the Star 99.7 studios, 2294 Clements Ferry Rd. Charleston, SC 29492, between 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) within 30 days of being notified that they are winners, unless there is an expiration date on prize, which will be specifically stated.
24. Where the prize(s) consists of electronic (digital) concert or event tickets, the winner will receive an email from Star 99.7 with a hyperlink to an electronic waiver form that the winner must sign and return to Star 99.7 before the prize will be transferred to the winner. The tickets will be transferred to the winner by Star 99.7 or, in some cases, by a third party (for example, Ticketmaster, LiveNation, etc.) and the winner must check his or her email account for an email or cellular mobile number for a text message from the ticket provider in order to download the tickets. In some cases, the winner will be directed to go to a specified address and retrieve the tickets (“will-call tickets”), and winner agrees to pick up tickets as directed. In the event the winner does not have an email account or mobile phone, upon being notified by the winner, Star 99.7 will download the tickets for pickup by the winner at 2294 Clements Ferry Road, Charleston, SC 29492.
25. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. The contest is void where prohibited.
26. Star 99.7 reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if any contest rules are violated in any way.
27. Star 99.7 assumes no liability for situations, repairs, or incidents arising from any aspect of any prize awarded in any contest. Star 99.7, its advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees, and immediate families of each are absolved and shall be held harmless from any action or liability arising from any contest or prize awarded in any contest.
28. As a licensee of the FCC and a trustee of the public airwaves, Star 99.7 reserves the right to interrupt and/or discontinue any contest or promotion (and not award the offered prize) at the discretion of Star 99.7 management if world events, the national mood, or public safety so warrant.
29. Star 99.7 reserves the right to amend the rules to any contest at any time. Star 99.7’s decision is always final. In the event any one of the general contest rules which govern all Star 99.7 contests contradict with any specific contest term, the specific contest term will control.
30. For any contest requiring phone entry you must use only the following number unless otherwise specified: 843-972-9999. For texting it is also (843) 972-9999. The person operating the telephone at Star 99.7 has the final decision as to who is the winning caller.
31. Star 99.7 shall have no responsibility for contestant’s inability or failure to participate, failure to win or claim any prize based on malfunction or difficulties with telephone, cell phone, texting, email, or internet access, or any other circumstances in any contest beyond Star 99.7’s control.
32. For any contest involving on-line voting: If an entrant receives irregular votes, including but not limited to, votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, or other automated means, Star 99.7 reserves the right to disqualify the entrant in its sole discretion and/or use another means to determine the winner(s), ex. – random selection or appointing a panel of judges.
33. For any contests involving tickets to live performances or events, winners will need to follow all COVID guidelines and protocols put in place by the concert organizer.
34. Star 99.7 is not responsible for any event cancellations or reschedules.
35. Star 99.7 is not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or act of man or God, lost, late, misdirected, postage-due, unintelligible, returned, undelivered entries or email, or lost, interrupted or unavailable satellite, network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections availability, accessibility or traffic congestion, miscommunications, failed computer, network, telephone, satellite or cable hardware or software or lines, or technical failure, or jumbled, scrambled, delayed or misdirected transmissions, computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, or network. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of this contest or website, or act in violation of the official service, as solely determined by the station, will be disqualified. Neither sponsor nor promotion parties are responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users, tampering, hacking, or by any of the programming or equipment associated with or used in this contest, and assumes no responsibility for any errors, omissions, deletion, interruption or delay in operation or transmission or communication line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized website access. Star 99.7 is not responsible for injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from participating in this contest. Should any portion of contest be, in Star 99.7’s sole opinion, compromised by virus, worms, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes which, in the sole opinion of the station, corrupt or impair administration, security, fairness or proper play of this contest, or contest plays, Star 99.7 reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the contest.
36. Star 99.7 has not made nor is in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose. Any and all warranties and/or guarantees on prize (if any) are provided only by the manufacturer, and winners agree to look solely to such manufacturers for any such warranty and/or guarantee.
37. The following are specifically related to E-contests and E-Mail Club promotions on star997.com:
    1. All appropriate information in required fields must be entered correctly and completely or you will be disqualified.
    2. To win a prize you must reside within the listening area of Star 99.7 as defined at the exclusive discretion of Star 99.7 management.
    3. Any problems with the internet or email are not Star 99.7’s responsibility.
    4. Contestants who register to participate on our website may be required to produce a printed copy of proof of registration before being allowed to participate in the contest.
    5. Due to the nature of our programs that are heard on-line over the internet, contests may not be heard at all on Star 99.7. Contests heard on the radio station’s internet audio stream may be slightly delayed from the time the contests are heard on the broadcast station and will be running behind the broadcast signal. Thus, all contests heard on the internet are delayed. This delay can last for as much as 30 seconds or more. This means that when Star 99.7 contests are played that require a specific caller to telephone the radio station (such as “Caller number 9 when you hear the sound effect,” or a contest that requires a specific texter to text a key word to our short code of [Insert short code] or other number specified in the contest, such as “98th person to text “win” to [Insert short code] when you hear the sound effect), listeners to the on-line audio stream may be at a disadvantage in participating over those listeners who hear the contests on-air.
